    Repair or replace?

A scuff or a small crack can often be repaired and refinished. A bumper that’s torn, badly cracked or has broken mounting tabs usually needs a new cover. We look at it and tell you which one makes sense for your car and your budget.

It also helps to know what a bumper is. The painted part you see is a plastic cover. Behind it sits a foam or plastic absorber and a metal reinforcement bar bolted to the car. A tap that only scuffs the cover can still crack the absorber or bend a bracket, which is why we look behind the cover before we give you a final price.

    What affects the price

No two bumpers cost the same. What moves the price:

    • Repair or new cover. Fixing the one you have usually costs less than a new part.
    • The part itself. Bumper covers cost more for some makes and models than others.
    • Paint. Every repaired or new cover gets painted, and some colors take more work to match.
    • What’s behind it. A cracked absorber or bent bracket adds to the job.
    • What’s built in. Lights and trim that have to move over to the repaired or new bumper.

Many bumpers hide parking sensors or a radar for safety features. After the repair, we recalibrate them here in our shop, so they work like they should.

Most of our repairs start around $1,000 and go up from there. Send us photos and we can usually give you a ballpark. The exact price comes after we see the car in person, because photos can’t show everything underneath.

    No claim needed

For a bumper, a claim often isn’t worth it once you count the deductible and a possible premium increase. Pay your own way, with financing if you want it. See repair without insurance. If you’d rather go through insurance, we work with every company and walk you through the claim.

Painted to match, warrantied for you

Repaired or new, your bumper is painted with paint mixed to your car’s color, in our own booth. More on that on our paint repair page. Every repair comes with our lifetime warranty, good for as long as you own the car. The way we put it: we don’t warranty the vehicle, we warranty you.

    Quick answers

How much does bumper repair cost?

It depends on whether the bumper can be repaired or needs a new cover, the part for your car, the paint, and whether anything behind the cover is damaged. Send photos for a ballpark; the exact price comes after we see the car.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace a bumper?

Repairing the bumper you have is usually cheaper when the damage is a scuff, a scrape or a small crack. A torn cover or broken mounting tabs usually means a new cover. We tell you which one makes sense before we start.

Should I put a bumper through insurance?

Often it isn’t worth it once you count your deductible and a possible premium increase. Get our free estimate first, then decide. We work with every insurance company either way.

Will the new bumper match my car?

Yes. We paint it with paint mixed to your car’s color.
